EMU Faculty of Education Organizes a Series of Conferences for Academic Personnel Members

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Education organized a series of conferences for academics in collaboration with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyrus (TRNC), Ministry of National Education, Department of Education and Training. The event took place on Thursday, 13 February 2025 at 10:00 a.m. hosted by the members of the Educational Programs and Teaching Association (EPÖDER) in the EMU Faculty of Education, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ali Hikmet Civelek Conference Hall.

Present during the event were TRNC Ministry of National Education, Director of Department of Murad Aktuğ, EMU General Secretary Derviş Ekşici, Dean of EMU Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ahmet Pehlivan, Dean of EMU Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Ozan H. Gülcan, Head of EMU Department of Educational Sciences Prof .Dr. Canan Zeki, Head of EMU Department of Foreign Language Teaching Assist. Prof. Dr. Fatoş Erozan, Head of EMU Department of Cinema and Television Prof. Dr. Bahire E. Özad, EMU personnel and students.

Topics Important in the Field of Education were discussed

The conference, which included specialist academics like Prof. Dr. Kıymet Selvi, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Cem Babadoğan, and Prof. Dr. Kerim Gündoğdu as speakers, covered important topics such as contemporary educational paradigms, program literacy, and human rights education.

In the first session of the conference, Prof. Dr. Kıymet Selvi delivered a presentation titled “Paradigm Shift in Education and New Learning Skills”, sharing ever-changing approaches in education and contemporary learning methods. Then, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Cem Babadoğan emphasized the importance of communication in understanding educational programs during his presentation titled “Program Literacy or Communication and Listening Skills?”. Lastly, in the “Why and How Implicit Curriculum Should Be Applied in Human Rights Education?” presentation, Prof. Dr. Kerim Gündoğdu explored how implicit curricula can enhance human rights education.

Exchange of Presents

Speakers of the conference were presented with traditional Cypriot hand-work Lefkara panels. The souvenirs were presented by the Director of TRNC Ministry of National Education, Department of Education and Training Murad Aktuğ, General Secretary Derviş Ekşici and Dean of EMU Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ahmet Pehlivan.
