“Classroom Education” joint master’s program with thesis, launched in accordance with the collaboration protocol signed between the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Education and Atatürk Teacher’s Academy (AOA), has commenced student admissions. This collaboration made among the most prestigious and well-established educational institutions of the country, seeks to enhance the quality of teacher training to a higher standard.
Approved by the Higher Education Planning, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YODAK), the Turkish-medium program admits students from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The master’s program consists of 7 courses, a seminar and a thesis. The courses of the said program will take place at Atatürk Teacher’s Academy in Nicosia.
The master’s program is designed to train experts in the field of elementary education. It aims to provide students with comprehensive professional and academic knowledge while equipping them with the necessary skills to conduct research in the field. First Postgraduate Program in TRNC
Stating that the said program plays a crucial role in advancement of the TRNC’s education and teacher training system, Dean of the EMU Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ahmet Pehlivan also underscored the importance of the collaboration between EMU and AOA for boosting the international standing and brand value of education. Prof. Dr. Pehlivan pointed out that this partnership marks the first of its kind in the TRNC, as well as the first master’s program in Classroom Education in the region.
Highlighting the need for specialized expertise to tackle the challenges in primary education in the TRNC, Prof. Dr. Pehlivan stressed that the introduction of the ‘Classroom Education’ Master’s Program with Thesis is essential to address the shortage of professionals in the field of Classroom Education in the region.

EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç made remarks regarding the launch of the said master’s program, saying; “EMU continues to break grounds. We are thrilled to be the first institution in the TRNC to offer postgraduate training with the field of ‘Classroom Education’. Contributing to the development of our country’s education system is a key mission for us. Our collaboration with AOA is one such example. TRNC citizen candidates who received training in the field of classroom education or in a major related with training teachers, may apply for the said program for the 2024 – 2025 Academic Year Spring Semester.
